Compra has 8 different question types.
1. Single select
Let your customers pick one answer from a list.
Layouts: radio buttons or pill buttons
Anti-bias tip: enable “Shuffle options” so the first or last choice isn’t over-selected.
2. Multi-select
Allow customers to choose multiple answers from a list.
Great for: “Which channels did you hear about us from?” or feature wish-lists
Limit the list: 3-8 options keeps cognitive load low.
3. Open text
Capture your customer’s feedback in their own words.
Autosize textarea grows as they type.
Tip: follow up closed questions with one open-text field to get a better context.
4. Dropdown
Hide long lists in a tidy menu, ideal when you have 6+ choices.
Auto-search: customers can type to filter values
Great for: country, state, product model numbers
Mobile: expands full-screen for thumb-friendly scrolling.
5. NPS
Measure loyalty with the standard Net Promoter Score question. The scale is fixed to 0-10 as per industry standards and you can customize the lower and upper labels.
Layouts: numbered scale or emoji scale
Auto-segment: we tag responses as Detractor (0-6), Passive (7-8), Promoter (9-10).
Follow-ups: pair with an open-text “What’s the main reason for your score?”
6. Rating Scale
You can add rating scale in the form of numbers, stars or emojis. The default scale is 1-5 and you can add lower and upper labels to the scale.
Collect quick customer satisfaction with numbers, stars or emojis.
Default scale: 1–5; you can rename the labels (“Poor” / “Excellent”)
Layouts: stars for products, emojis for emotions, plain numbers for clarity
7. Date Picker
Ask for a specific date- birthdays, appointments, delivery targets.
Format: YYYY-MM-DD (Shopify default)
Validation: optional min/max dates to block impossible selections.
8. Image selection
Add images for customers to choose from. You can also label the images This question type can be used for single selection of response from images.
Let customers tap the picture that best matches their preference.
Upload up to 8 images—same aspect ratio for a neat grid
Add labels under each image for context. Adding labels also helps you track better analytics.
Best for: style tests, color swatches, “Which packaging do you like?”
9. Content block
A non-question step that shows text and/or an image inside your survey. It does not collect a response. Use it to introduce a survey, add context between sections, show an offer, or display legal/consent info. Can be used for:
Short welcome or “why this matters” intro
Section divider / instructions before a set of questions
Incentive or coupon reveal after completion criteria
Branding (hero image, product shot, packaging mockup)
Consent / privacy note with a link to policy
