Logic in surveys

Updated over a month ago

Logic helps you ask only what’s relevant and keep shoppers on a smooth path. Instead of showing every question to everyone, you can reveal follow-ups when they matter, skip what doesn’t, and end at the right time. The result: higher completion rates and cleaner insights.

Why use Survey Logic?

  • Personalize the path: Show different follow-ups based on what someone answered.

  • Reduce friction: Skip questions that don’t apply so people finish faster.

  • Go deeper, only when needed: Ask detailed questions after the right trigger.

How you can add logic to your surveys?

Create your survey as usual; in the right panel you will see a button to "Add logic"

Here you can enable and edit the logic with a simple If → Then editor.

Think of logic as: “If they answer this, then do that next.”

Add questions to your survey

  • Add questions you might want to show, hide, or jump to.

  • Order matters: follow-ups should be after the question that triggers them.

Click Add logic on the question you want to branch from

You can set up a simple rule that reads like a sentence:

  • IF- the condition you’re watching for

  • THEN- what should happen when it’s true

  • OTHERWISE- what should happen when it’s not true

You can:

  • add multiple conditions (use AND for “all must match” or OR for “any can match”), and

  • stack multiple actions (they run top → bottom).

What each logic action does?

1. Show selected question(s)

  • What it does- Temporarily shows a question that is hidden by the user.

  • What shoppers see- The follow-up question appears in the flow at its normal position.

  • Use it when- You only want a follow-up to appear for specific answers.

  • Example- IF “Where did you hear about us?” = Instagram → Show “Which creator did you see?” If the condition is not met, the follow-up stays hidden (only if you hide it)

2. Hide selected question(s)

  • What it does- Temporarily hides a question that is visible by default when the rule condition is met.

  • What shoppers see- That question never appears for people who match the condition.

  • Use it when- Skip questions that don’t apply to certain respondents.

  • Example- IF “Did you purchase today?” = Yes → Hide “What stopped you from buying?” If the condition is not met, the question remains visible (its default).

3. Jump to a specific question

  • What it does- When the rule condition is met, the survey moves directly to a specific question you choose.

  • What shoppers see- They are taken straight to the target question, skipping anything in between (whether those skipped questions are visible or hidden).

  • Use it when- You want to bypass a chunk of questions and continue at a precise point.

  • Example- IF “Returning customer?” = YesJump to Q10 (skip onboarding).

4. Jump to → End survey

  • What it does- When the rule condition is met, the survey finishes immediately and shows the thank-you screen.

  • What shoppers see- A clean finish, no more questions.

  • Use it when- You’ve already collected what you need (e.g., NPS + 1 comment) or the rest doesn’t apply.

  • Example- IF NPS is answered and quick comment captured → Jump to End survey. What the shopper sees: Thank-you screen, no extra steps.
